Wizz Air, the eastern European low-cost airline, has announced the launch of a new route between the London and Transylvania, in the heart of Romania. The new flights will complement the carrier’s existing network of 8 routes from Bucharest and Tirgu Mures. The price of a one-way ticket starts from 26.9 pounds (around 130 RON), taxes included.
Flights from Tirgu Mures to London Luton will be operated as of 30 October, 3 times a week. The news will increase the interest of investment companies and individuals from South-East England looking to invest in the Romanian property market.
Wizz Air stated that the route - which will run three times per week, will “complement” the existing routes between the UK and Romania, which already includes Bucharest.
Tirgu Murges International Airport has recently been modernised and it covers Transylvania area. It takes around 2 hours to drive from Tirgu Mures to Brasov and from Tirgu Mures to Sibiu. The price of land close to Tirgu Mures airport has already seen high increases in value since Wizzair started operating between Budapest and Tirgu Mures.
There will now also be 6 flights a week from Bucharest to London Luton starting from July 2007.
